Top Ten Tuesday | Books I’ve Read & Can’t Remember

Welcome back to the blog and happy Tuesday everyone! I’m coming at you with a new installment of Top Ten Tuesday. This is a meme hosted by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, we’re assigned a topic and then tasked to create a top-ten-list that fits that topic. Since I only read like 5 books last year, I decided to go with a different topic this week.

This week, I decided to backtrack and talk about: Top Ten Books I’ve Read & Can’t Remember. Ready to jump in and see what I’ve got for you?

Beautiful Bastard – Christina Lauren
I listened to the audiobook version of this book a few years ago and can’t remember much of what happened. They talked about what happened in the rest of the series and every time I was just like, “Whaaaa? When did that happen?”

Beloved – Toni Morrison
I remember being somewhat excited to read this in school because Toni Morrison is an award-winning author and I’d heard good things…then I read this. I don’t remember exact details, but I do remember that it was just weird.

Cinder – Marissa Meyer
It makes me sad that I don’t remember much of this book because I STILL NEED TO FINISH THE SERIES. Ugh, seriously Carrianne? Just pony up and dive in already.

Gingerbread – Rachel Cohn
I loved this trilogy when I was younger, but I can’t remember much except for three things: the MC is named after the ballerina Cyd Charisse, the doll’s name is Gingerbread, and her boyfriend’s name is Shrimp.

HP & the Sorcerer’s Stone – J.K. Rowling
I haven’t read this book since I was in third grade and the movies first came out. *waits for sticks and stones to be thrown* I seriously need to reread and finish the series.

The Catcher in the Rye – J.D. Salinger
All I remember, and some may argue that this is all I need to, is that Holden complains about every. little. thing. Also, a carousel?

To Kill A Mockingbird – Harper Lee
For one, I never finished the book, but I also just don’t remember much about the story. At least the little details.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower – Stephen Chbosky
So. Many. Drugs. That’s all I remember.

Mockingjay – Suzanne Collins
I was talking about the book with a co-worker, and he was mentioning things that I did not remember at all. I almost wanted to question whether or not I’ve read it.

Saga v. 1-6 – Brian K. Vaughan
I just recently checked out volumes 7-9 from work, and as I talked about the first part of the series with my friend, I realized that I remember absolutely nothing.

What are some books that you’ve read and can’t remember? Do we share any of the same books? Feel free to leave your TTT below. đŸ™‚

I’ve already decided that I want to reread Saga, because it’s gotten so bad that when I tried to pick up where I left off I had no clue what was happening. I might also do it for Beautiful Bastard, Cinder, and Harry Potter. I just need to get my butt in gear. lol

Harry Potter is definitely high on my list of retreading. The only book I have left in the Lunar Chronicles is Winter and I have no idea why I’m procrastinating with reading it. It’s not the length that bothers me because hi, I’m almost done with Kingdom of Ashes. I’m just weird. Lol I feel like maybe I should do some rereads this year just to get me reading again.

I read HP & the Sorcerer’s Stone in 3rd grade too! (Tho I have re-read it probably 20 times) I have the same problem with reading and not remembering books! I can’t pick up a new book in a series without needing to re-read the other books first! I have a lot of unfinished series because of this!

I should probably re-read a series before picking it up again, but typically I just jump back into it. lol Though usually I start remembering what happened as I’m reading.

I love your topic pick this week! Also, I love that you included Rachel Cohn. I loved her books growing up. Especially Gingerbread and its sequels but I also don’t remember much about what happens in them. I remember her book Pop Princess really well but for some reason I space out on her others!

You’re one of the only people that I’ve come across that’s read Gingerbread (at least that I’m aware of). I loved Pop Princess! I thought it was so scandalous when I first read it, and really wanted the cotton candy colored nail polish she wore (that’s such an odd detail to remember).
